Chinese shipbuilders report 63% growth newbuild orders in Jan - Oct

Vessel made in China.pngAccording to the statistics released by China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), China’s shipbuilding output for January to October was 34.56m dwt, an increase of 12% year on year, while the newly received orders was 61.06m dwt.

As the end of October, Chinese shipyards’ orderbook on hand was 133.82m dwt, an increase of 28.1% year-on-year.

Shipbuilding export volume was 29.63 million dwt, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year; newly received export shipbuilding orders were 57.44 million dwt, up 69.5%. Export orders on hand were 125.56 million dwt as the end of October, increasing 34.5%. Shipbuilding volume, newly received shipbuilding orders, and orders on hand of exported vessels, accounted for 85.7%, 94.1% and 93.8% of national volume respectively.

As the end of October, China’s shipbuilding output, newly received orders and orders on hand accounted for 49.7%, 67% and 54.4% of the global shipbuilding market share.

Eighteen major Chinese ship repair yards completed a repair volume of 3,630 vessels for the first ten months, up 2.1% year-on-year.China shipbuilding.png
