MSC launches new feeder service
2026-05-02

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has launched a new weekly dedicated feeder service linking the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Nigeria with the Port of Lomé in Togo—strengthening multimodal connectivity and port resilience across the Gulf of Guinea.

The service enhances regional integration by positioning Lomé as a strategic transshipment hub for cargo destined for or originating from Lekki, thereby improving schedule reliability, reducing transit variability, and expanding routing flexibility for shippers serving Nigeria’s rapidly growing import and export markets.

Operations will commence on May 30, 2026, with the inaugural call of the vessel *MSC Rabat IV* at Lekki Deep Sea Port. The service rotation is structured as follows: Apapa → Tincan Island (Lagos) → Lekki → Lomé → return to Apapa.

This initiative supports MSC’s long-term commitment to West Africa’s maritime infrastructure development and aligns with national trade facilitation goals—including Nigeria’s Lekki Port Integration Strategy and Togo’s Vision 2030 for port-led economic growth. It also expands MSC’s coverage across Nigeria’s key gateway ports, reinforcing end-to-end supply chain continuity amid rising containerized trade volumes in the region.
