WEC lines launches EBRO rail service
2026-05-26

WEC Lines (West Europe Container) has launched the EBRO rail service—a new weekly intermodal rail connection in Spain—effective May 21, 2026. The service links Agoncillo (La Rioja) and Zaragoza (Aragon) with Barcelona, establishing a seamless land-based feeder to WEC Lines’ established ESC shortsea service serving the Canary Islands.

Operated exclusively with WEC Lines’ dedicated rolling stock, the EBRO service enables end-to-end door-to-door transportation from inland Spain to the Canary Islands by integrating rail and shortsea modalities. It offers customers fixed weekly schedules, predictable transit times, and a lower-carbon alternative to road freight—available in both northbound and southbound directions.

Strategically designed as a core component of the ESC service portfolio, the EBRO rail service enhances operational flexibility and strengthens end-to-end supply chain resilience across the Spain–Canary Islands trade corridor.
