Maersk will inaugurate a new Far East–West Coast of South America container service, designated AC1, effective next month. This initiative expands the carrier’s end-to-end connectivity between Asia and major Pacific-facing ports in Latin America.
The AC1 service will be operated with a dedicated fleet of eight vessels, each with a nominal capacity ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 TEU.
The service rotation is structured as a closed-loop itinerary: Ningbo → Busan → Lázaro Cárdenas → Buenaventura → Guayaquil → Ningbo.
The introduction of AC1 reinforces Maersk’s strategic footprint on the Asia–Latin America trade corridor. It establishes direct, scheduled maritime links between key Asian manufacturing hubs—including China’s Yangtze River Delta and Korea’s industrial belt—and principal import/export gateways in Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador, thereby enhancing supply chain continuity and transit time reliability for shippers engaged in trans-Pacific trade.
