Unbelievable! The Mediterranean-West Africa route suddenly changed its mind
2026-06-25

Under the revised schedule, the WAF7 service will call at Tangier (Morocco), Conakry (Guinea), Pointe-Noire (Republic of the Congo), Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth, South Africa), and return to Tangier.

This adjustment introduces two new port calls—Pointe-Noire and Gqeberha—while removing Freetown (Sierra Leone) from the WAF7 loop. Freetown will instead be served via the dedicated Northern West Africa Plus (NWAP) feeder service, which operates between Tangier and Freetown.

Maersk states that this optimization enhances export capacity for South African perishables during the critical harvest window, while ensuring continued, reliable connectivity to Freetown through a specialized feeder solution.
