This follows a prior temporary suspension of new bookings to Zanzibar. Maersk reports that cumulative delays have adversely affected schedule reliability and the carrier’s capacity to meet published transit time commitments and service level agreements.
Revised handling policy for in-transit cargo:
• Cargo imported into Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) or Mombasa (Kenya), and subsequently scheduled for transshipment to Zanzibar, will no longer be accepted for onward movement under current import documentation.
• The restriction applies solely to transshipped cargo; direct containerized shipments with final destination Zanzibar remain unaffected.
This adjustment is intended to preserve service integrity, uphold contractual performance obligations, and prevent further degradation of network-wide schedule adherence.
Ongoing shipments: All in-transit consignments currently en route to Zanzibar will be delivered in accordance with their most recently advised estimated time of arrival (ETA), subject to prevailing port operating conditions.
For operational inquiries or case-specific support, customers are requested to contact their assigned Maersk account manager or local customer service team.
