A Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of up to USD 1,000 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) will be applied to dry container shipments originating from Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina. Effective 8 October 2026—based on Maersk’s Price Calculation Date (PCD)—the PSS will amount to USD 1,000 per TEU for destinations on the West Coast of South America; USD 500 per TEU for shipments destined for the Caribbean and U.S. Gulf Coast; and will apply uniformly across all dry container sizes. In addition to the PSS, applicable local and contingency charges may also be levied.
Concurrently, Maersk will introduce a temporary Emergency Inland Fuel/Energy Surcharge for Store Door shipments in selected Nordic and Baltic markets, effective 9 September 2026, pending further notice. This measure responds to sustained increases in fuel and energy costs stemming from supply chain disruptions affecting Middle Eastern fuel exports. The surcharge will be applied as a percentage of the base inland transportation rate: Estonia (20%), Denmark (13%), Latvia (12%), Sweden (9%), Finland (5%), and Lithuania (4%). Norway is currently exempt (0%).
The Emergency Inland Fuel/Energy Surcharge applies to Store Door shipments with a PCD on or after 9 September 2026. Notably, electric truck and rail-based inland solutions remain excluded from this surcharge. Maersk will conduct weekly reviews of the surcharge percentages to reflect evolving market conditions and cost developments.
