According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the incident occurred approximately 78 nautical miles north of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. All crew members were reported safe, and no environmental impact or pollution has been detected.
UKMTO confirmed that maritime authorities are conducting an investigation and has advised all vessels transiting the region to exercise heightened vigilance and proceed with caution.
The first incident occurred earlier the same day at 11:30 UTC, when a bulk carrier—subsequently identified via AIS tracking data from Pole Star Global as the Liberian-flagged Minoan Falcon—was attacked by multiple small, fast-moving vessels approximately 11 nautical miles west of Sirik Port, Iran, while en route northward toward the Strait of Hormuz. Following the assault, the vessel altered course and is now positioned off the coast of Fujairah.
These two incidents represent the first reported hostile acts against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and its approaches since 22 April, when the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) seized the container vessels Epaminondas and MSC Francesca—a period previously characterized by relative operational calm.
