CMA impose PSS on Latin America & East Africa

1. West Mediterranean–Latin America Trade Lane  

Effective 1 June 2026, a PSS of EUR 150 per TEU will apply to all containerized shipments originating from the following West Mediterranean ports:  

  • France: Marseille  

  • Spain: Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona  

  • Portugal: All ports  


The surcharge is applicable to all destination ports in the following regions:  

  • South America West Coast  

  • Central America (both East and West Coasts)  

  • Caribbean Islands  

  • Mexico West Coast  

  • Leeward Islands, Windward Islands, Guyana, and North Brazil (excluding Gustavia, Saint Barthélemy and Philipsburg, Sint Maarten)  


Exemptions: The surcharge does not apply to 40-foot non-operating refrigerated (40' NOR) units. It also excludes contracts with an original validity period exceeding three months.

2. Far East–East Africa Trade Lane  

Effective 15 May 2026, a PSS of USD 200 per TEU will apply to all containerized shipments from Far East ports destined for:  

  • Mombasa, Kenya  

  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania  


This surcharge applies universally across cargo types and contract terms, and shall remain in force until further notice.

CMA CGM stated that these measures are aligned with its commitment to maintaining consistent service performance and network resilience during periods of elevated cargo volume and port congestion.
