The revised PSS applies to containerized cargo originating from the following jurisdictions: China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam — and destined for Mozambique, Madagascar, Seychelles, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Eswatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Under the updated tariff structure, the PSS is set at USD 1,800 per 20-foot dry container and USD 2,000 per 40-foot dry container.
The surcharge applies exclusively to non-spot bookings and is determined based on the Price Calculation Date (PCD). For trades not subject to U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) jurisdiction, the PCD corresponds to the scheduled departure date of the first ocean leg at the time of booking confirmation. For FMC-regulated trades, the PCD is defined as the latest container gate-in date prior to vessel departure.
Maersk confirms that the PSS will be invoiced and collected in accordance with the freight payment terms stipulated for each individual shipment.
