Major shake-up in MSC's Far East route!
2026-06-23

MSC is undertaking a strategic realignment of its intra-Far East container shipping network, effective Q3 2026. As part of this initiative, the Bayan Ko service—currently connecting the Pearl River Delta with Vietnam and the Philippines—will be discontinued. Concurrently, MSC is revising the routing and port calls of several existing regional loops to ensure continued comprehensive coverage across major ports in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Philippines.

The revised network comprises the following services:

• Saola (4 vessels × 2,500 TEU): Shanghai → Ningbo → Hai Phong → Ho Chi Minh City → Da Nang → Manila → Davao → Shanghai

• Firehorse (4 vessels × 2,500 TEU): Shanghai → Ningbo → Shenzhen (Shekou) → Singapore → Surabaya → Semarang → Singapore → Shanghai

• Pertiwi (4 vessels × 4,500 TEU): Dalian → Tianjin → Qingdao → Shenzhen (Shekou) → Singapore → Jakarta → Panjang → Jakarta → Singapore → Nansha → Hong Kong → Kaohsiung → Busan → Dalian

• Thai (1 vessel × 2,800 TEU): Singapore → Laem Chabang → Singapore

• Bungaraya: Shanghai → Ningbo → Nansha → Port Klang → Penang → Kuala Tanjung → Singapore → Shanghai

• Malacca Express: Singapore → Belawan → Singapore

• Sambar (4 vessels × 4,500 TEU): Dalian → Incheon → Tianjin → Qingdao → Xiamen → Dong Nai → Laem Chabang → Singapore → Penang → Pasir Gudang → Tanjung Pelepas → Singapore → Dong Nai → Busan → Dalian

According to industry sources, these adjustments reflect MSC’s broader operational optimization strategy, aimed at enhancing schedule reliability, improving asset utilization, and sustaining robust connectivity across high-demand trade lanes in the region—without compromising overall network reach or service frequency.
