MSC launches Sierra service
2026-06-26

MSC has expanded its Far East–Mexico service network with the introduction of the Sierra service—a second dedicated loop complementing the existing Mexicas service.

According to industry reports, the Sierra service will deploy seven container vessels, each with a capacity ranging from 4,000 to 9,000 TEUs. Its port rotation is as follows: Shanghai → Qingdao → Busan → Manzanillo → Lázaro Cárdenas → Shanghai.

Concurrently, MSC will maintain operations of the Mexicas service using eight 5,000-TEU vessels on the following rotation: Ningbo → Shanghai → Lázaro Cárdenas → Manzanillo → Ensenada → Ningbo.

The launch of the Sierra service enhances MSC’s total Asia–Mexico capacity and strengthens service reliability by offering customers an additional dedicated solution, broader schedule options, and improved coverage across major Mexican gateway ports—including Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Ensenada.
