This strategic relocation constitutes an enhancement of ONE’s SCX service, reinforcing its logistics network in Denmark and delivering greater operational flexibility to customers. Upon implementation, Kalundborg Port will serve as ONE’s second operational base in Zealand and the sole port in the region offering direct weekly feeder connectivity to Rotterdam and Antwerp — two of Europe’s principal container hubs.
The relocation follows substantial joint investments by Kalundborg Port and APM Terminals under the Green Zealand Gateway initiative. These include the electrification of quay cranes, deployment of electric terminal handling equipment, and process optimization measures — all aimed at advancing terminal efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and positioning Kalundborg as Zealand’s premier container hub. The long-term objective is to establish the first CO₂-neutral container terminal in the Nordic region.
“This decision affirms the strategic value of our sustained investments in operational productivity, environmental sustainability, and terminal efficiency,” stated Mikael Gutman, Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals Denmark.
