MSC goes all-in! Major reshuffle of ports on two golden shipping routes
2026-08-21

These revisions affect two key services—the Pearl and Sentosa loops—and will be implemented incrementally across designated voyages, beginning in the upcoming schedule cycle.

Pearl Service: Enhanced US West Coast connectivity

Effective from Voyage 636, the Pearl Service will incorporate Haiphong (Vietnam) and Oakland (USA) into its rotation, while Xiamen (China) will be removed. The updated port sequence is as follows:

Haiphong → Yantian → Long Beach → Oakland

This revision establishes dual direct calls on the US West Coast—Long Beach and Oakland—improving inland distribution flexibility and reducing transshipment dependency for shippers serving northern and southern California markets.

Sentosa Service: Optimised Asia-Pacific coverage

From Voyage 634, the Sentosa Service will be reconfigured to include Xiamen, while Haiphong and Oakland will be excluded. The revised rotation is:

Singapore → Port Klang → Laem Chabang → Vung Tau → Yantian → Xiamen → Long Beach

As a result, Long Beach remains the sole US West Coast port served under the updated Sentosa loop, streamlining operational focus while maintaining core gateway access.

MSC stated that these network refinements reflect its continuous commitment to data-driven capacity planning, service stability, and customer-centric route design.
