Hapag-Lloyd announces sharp increase in hazardous cargo freight rates to Jeddah!
2026-08-23

The revised DGP of USD 1,000 per TEU-equivalent container applies uniformly to all container types transporting hazardous cargo classified under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code—excluding Classes 1 (Explosives) and 7 (Radioactive Materials). This surcharge is applicable to all sailings with estimated departure dates on or after 1 September 2026 from North European and Mediterranean ports.

Hapag-Lloyd confirms that its base ocean freight rates, as published in the Ocean Tariff, remain unchanged. Likewise, bunker adjustment factors (BAF), security-related surcharges (e.g., ISPS), and Terminal Handling Charges (THCs) continue to apply at previously announced levels.

Local port charges and contingency surcharges—where applicable—remain subject to individual port authority regulations and operational conditions.
