1. Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for the Maldives  

A Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) will be implemented on all containerized cargo originating from the Far East—including China—to the Maldives. The PSS will apply as follows:  

– USD 150 per TEU, effective 12 September 2026;  

– Increased to USD 450 per TEU, effective 15 September 2026.  

For shipments originating in China, this surcharge will be subject to filing with the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and/or incorporated into the published ocean freight rate.

2. Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) Requirement for Kenya  

Effective 3 August 2026, CMA CGM requires all containerized imports destined for Kenya to comply with Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) Advance Cargo Declaration regulation. Under this requirement:  

– A valid 15-digit ACD Reference Number must be obtained prior to vessel loading;  

– The ACD Reference Number must be clearly indicated on the final Bill of Lading;  

– Supporting documentation—including the draft Bill of Lading, commercial invoice, freight invoice, and export declaration—must be submitted to the designated authority for ACD processing.  

Failure to provide accurate, complete, or timely ACD information may result in shipment delays, additional customs inspections, discharge restrictions, or financial penalties.

3. Low Water Surcharge (LWS) for Selected Americas Trades  

A Low Water Surcharge (LWS) of USD 150 per TEU will be introduced on applicable trades effective 1 October 2026. This surcharge applies to all containerized cargo moving:  

– From the U.S. East Coast and Gulf ports, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa to the West Coast of South America;  

– From the U.S. West Coast to the East Coast of South America, Central America (East Coast), the Caribbean, Mexico’s East Coast, Guyana–North Brazil, and Leeward/Windward Islands.  

The port of Gustavia (St. Barthélemy) is explicitly excluded from the LWS scope.
