Breaking news! Maersk suddenly raises fees in Bangladesh
2026-09-29

This revision incorporates a 9.85% fuel surcharge, as mandated by the Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA), on previously established rates for specified container handling and inland transportation services.

The revised charges became effective on 21 September 2026.

The adjustment reflects the recent increase in the government-regulated diesel price in Bangladesh—from BDT 115 to BDT 135 per litre—a rise of approximately 17.4%, which directly impacts operational fuel costs for ICD-related activities.

Scope of applicability

The revised CFS and ICD charges apply to the following LCL-related services:

  • Empty container transportation between Chattogram Port (including the Port of Chattogram’s Container Terminal, PCT) and designated inland container depots;

  • Lift-on and lift-off operations for empty containers;

  • Export cargo stuffing, consolidation, and associated handling at CFS facilities;

  • Verified Gross Mass (VGM) verification and documentation for export-loaded containers;

  • Import cargo deconsolidation and last-mile delivery from ICDs to consignees.

Maersk will apply the updated charges strictly in accordance with the effective date and the contractual terms governing each shipment, including applicable Incoterms® rules and service agreements.
