Explosive news at Huangpu Wenchong! RCL names three new vessels in one go!
2026-09-30

The ceremony was attended by RCL’s senior leadership, including Dr. Jamlong Atikul, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Sumate Tanthuwanit, Chairman of the Executive Committee; and Dr. Twinchok Tanthuwanit, President of RCL. Also present were distinguished industry representatives and key stakeholders.

ANITTA BHUM (“Land of Kindness”) was officially named by sponsor Mrs. Naruemol Wanglee, accompanied by Mr. Petch Wanglee, Managing Director of Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Company Limited.

BENYAPAR BHUM (“Land of Wisdom”) was named by sponsor Mrs. Busatree Wanglee, accompanied by Mr. Khem Wanglee, Director and Managing Director (Commercial) of SMS Corporation Company Limited.

CHANTISA BHUM (“Land of Greatness”) was named by sponsor Mrs. Ang Siew Lan, accompanied by Mr. Paul Chuah Seong Phaik, Chairman of the PCCO Group, Malaysia.

These vessels represent the first three deliveries under RCL’s strategic fleet expansion program—a total order of eight advanced 4,488-TEU container ships placed with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding. Each vessel incorporates a suite of environmentally optimized technologies, including Energy Saving Devices (ESD), Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) systems enabling shore-side electricity connection during port stays, and dual-fuel readiness for LNG, methanol, and ammonia—ensuring operational flexibility and future fuel compatibility. Collectively, these features support RCL’s commitment to reducing emissions—including sulphur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)—and advancing energy-efficient, low-carbon maritime operations.

Following the naming ceremony, the vessels will be integrated into RCL’s regional liner network as scheduled:

• ANITTA BHUM, delivered on 24 September 2026, will commence service on the RCL Far East–Latin America (AFL) route, connecting East Asian ports with Latin American destinations.

• BENYAPAR BHUM, scheduled for delivery on 19 October 2026, will join the RCL Far East–Madras Service 2 (RFM2), serving key ports across Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.

• CHANTISA BHUM, scheduled for delivery on 20 November 2026, will enter the RCL South China–Indonesia Service (RCI02), strengthening connectivity between Southern China and major Southeast Asian ports.

The introduction of these 4,488-TEU vessels reflects RCL’s long-term fleet modernization strategy—designed to enhance service reliability, expand network coverage, and advance sustainable shipping across Asia and global trade corridors.
