Yang Ming expands into Latin America
2026-05-13

Yang Ming has expanded its service network in the Latin American trade lane with the introduction of two new Far East–Latin America container shipping services. These services—operated in collaboration with HMM and Ocean Network Express (ONE)—provide comprehensive coverage of both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of South America, as confirmed by Alphaliner data.

For Pacific Coast connectivity, Yang Ming will secure slot capacity on the NWX/AX4 service, which has been extended to include Yokohama as a port of call. For Atlantic Coast coverage, the company will participate in the FL2/SX2 string.

The Pacific Coast service—marketed jointly under the SA2/NW4/AX4 string and operated by HMM and ONE—follows a 12-port rotation: Shanghai → Ningbo → Qingdao → Busan → Ensenada → Lázaro Cárdenas → Manzanillo (Mexico) → Callao (Peru) → Guayaquil (Ecuador) → Yokohama → and back to Shanghai.

The Atlantic Coast service—branded SSX/FL2/SX2 and likewise operated by HMM and ONE—features an extended loop integrating key hubs across Southeast Asia and South America. Its rotation comprises: Busan → Shanghai → Shenzhen (Shekou) → Singapore → Rio de Janeiro → Santos → Itaóca (Brazil), followed by a return leg via Singapore → Ho Chi Minh City (Cai Mep) → Haiphong → and back to Busan.

These additions represent a strategic milestone in Yang Ming’s broader initiative to deepen its commercial footprint and service reliability in Latin America—a region witnessing intensified carrier engagement amid strengthening bilateral trade flows and infrastructure upgrades across major ports.
