CUL joins Zhonggu for launchs new service of RES
2026-05-13

CU Lines has entered into a strategic vessel-sharing agreement with Zhonggu Shipping to jointly operate the China–Red Sea Express (CRX) service. Under this collaboration, CU Lines will market the service under its dedicated Red Sea Service (RES) brand. The partnership elevates the offering to a weekly sailing schedule—enhancing reliability, frequency, and end-to-end connectivity between major Chinese container ports and key Red Sea gateway terminals.

The service will be deployed across a dedicated fleet of eight container vessels, each with a capacity ranging from 1,700 to 2,500 TEU. The port rotation comprises: Shanghai → Ningbo → Nansha → Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) → Aqaba (Jordan) → Sokhna (Egypt), before returning to Shanghai.

This alliance expands available capacity on the China–Middle East corridor—a trade lane under sustained industry scrutiny since the onset of Red Sea operational disruptions. It further reflects carriers’ increasing commitment to establishing resilient, scheduled, and direct maritime links between China and the Middle East, underpinned by consistent weekly frequency and shared infrastructure investment.
